Over my first few years in Padstow I fell in love with Rocky Beach at nearby Trevone, finding something new around each corner. I first painted this cave in 2008, calling it the Buttress Arch, as it seemed to resemble a flying buttress. Two winters ago there was a major collapse, leaving only this fragile bridge of stone. A sad day, but also an opportunity, and a wonderful new subject.
