The Trois Crayons Summer Exhibition, at Frieze, 9 Cork Street, Mayfair

We’ll be showing five works on paper later this month at The Trois Crayons Summer Exhibition, at Frieze, 9 Cork Street, Mayfair.

Trois Crayons have taken the whole building to show 250 works on paper, from 35 international galleries, united by the theme, Tracing Time

The pictures we are sending also 'Trace Time' in their way. Two are dated 1917: a rather lovely study by Edward Ridley, and a wonderful watercolour by the late Pre-Raphaelite artist ER Frampton. We’ll also be showing a vigorous, Michelangelesque portrait by Edward Burne-Jones. The final two watercolours were painted in 1903 and 1904 respectively by late adherents of Ruskin’s exhortation to record ancient monuments: the 13th Century BC Egyptian temple at Abu Simbel by the American Pre-Raphaelite watercolorist, HR Newman, and the 13th century AD reliefs on the west front of Auxerre Cathedral by TM Rooke.
