For a trained draughtsman who worked in the busy black-and-white magazine and book illustration industry of the 1860s, Charles Green had a fine sense of colour. His pictures, mainly watercolours, were exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and the Royal Academy.
Here, a simple but delicate study of the roofscape of Bruges.
