The artist's son and thence by descent
Taylor exhibited another picture, Early Morning on the Somme, at the Leicester Galleries in 1914, giving us a likely date for ours, just before or in the very early stages of the Great War. This tranquil scenery was drastically re-landscaped in the Battle of the Somme.
