Provenance

The Maas Gallery;

Private Collection, UK

This is one of the statuesque birds and animals that Lynch painted in the 90s in egg tempera. His studio was built upon stilts with a chicken coop beneath supplying the egg yolks he still uses in Quattrocento recipes to mix his own paint. It is built up in thin layers and the surface hardens to one of the most durable and lightfast there is, with a sheen which gives a translucent glow to the colours. Now he paints mostly landscape, still in tempera.
