Stanley Lewis was 're-discovered' by the dealer Paul Liss, who organised an exhibition of this work in 2010 at the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford. He was an accomplished draughtsman - as he said in interview with Liss: 'I loved the drawing and painting came next. When I think now I am amazed at my perseverance at hauling my work around the many houses I have lived in. 70 years! It is a miracle they have survived'.
