Possibly of Charles Conder's wife Stella, nee Maris. The drawing has been cut to the first two letters of the inscription, possibly St[ella]. She wore her hair in this distinctive manner. Both Conder and Slade lived in the same street, Cheyne Walk, in the noughties, after Conder's marriage to Stella. EAS was at 91 and CEC at 131, and both were members of the NEAC.
